Asheville-based LaQuatra Bonci Associates (www.laquatrabonci.com) is the landscape architecture firm contracted for the HandMade House at The Ramble. Hunter Stubbs of B.B. Barns (www.bbbarnes.com) designed and installed the perennial flower garden and the rain garden. B.B. Barns’ landscaping company is a design/build firm that offers creative landscape services, installation expertise, and landscape maintenance. Their goal is to achieve a “sense of place” in the outdoor areas they create. B.B. Barns’ seven acre garden center is located in South Asheville"

Biltmore Farms horticulturist Amy Fahmy says she relishes the opportunity to work with such a broad-based creative team. "Getting these landscape artists involved early and having their designs thought through and scheduled from the beginning is really fantastic," says Amy. "The quality of the landscape elements, like the handcrafted benches, the arbor and the extra-wide wrought iron gate, is far above what you would see for most houses.

"I would never have thought of door mats or hanging baskets or window boxes and many of the other items that came from the artists. They really informed the feel of this project and the whole list of what we would be looking for from the beginning."
